Today was a really early start. Ian & Dorothy arrived on the night flight at 0530 and we met them to take them to their hotel. They are here because construction has started on their house in Ilgaz and they need to agree fittings etc. with the builder. No doubt there will be a few evenings out over the next 10 days.At 0900 we meet Kemal and went once again go to Nicosia, this time to obtain customs clearance on our container. Also to collect our driving licences at last, so now we will have all the legal documents we need to live here.As it is now only 0740 am, it is too early to report as to whether the granite
worktop will be fitted today, so I suppose it is "Watch this space". Why do we have this nasty feeling about this company called Simtas.Well we went to Nicosia and chased around getting customs clearance. Its a good job Kemal knows what he is doing. After three different offices in and around Nicosia we paid £65.00 to clear our stuff. Then when we went to collect the driving licences, mine was ready, but they had lost the paperwork for Joan's licence somewhere in their files. Hey Ho this Cyprus! Maybe next week, after the 3 day bank holiday.1600 hours. Well the granite worktop was installed when we got there to check. What a terrible job! The splashback strips which are supposed to be against the tiles and silicone fitted to the worktop, fit as and where they touched. During fitting they had attempted to push tighter against the tiles and broken the granite, which they then attempted to hide with silicone filler. But the worst possible fault was that they had cut the hole for the sink in the wrong place, damaging one of the fitted cupboards in the process. Resolved to visit their offices and demand a site visit tomorrow a.m. The company just got a new name from us today " SIM-TRASH".
