Our adventures in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus continue....

This morning I called our regular log delivery man, as I feel we need an extra ton to see us through to the warmer days. The price has gone up again, as it always does when you get to the end of the winter, it now works out at £60.00 per ton. Me thinks it is time to take a serious look at this overall heating situation, as there is a period of around 12 weeks every winter when we do need some sort of additional warmth, especially in the evenings. The open fire is working brilliantly, backed up by a couple of portable gas fires in the dining room and bedroom corridor area, but that will be 6 tons of wood we will have burnt during the cold spell and this winter hasn't been as cold as last year + of course at least two gas bottles every week at a cost of £6.00 each. I suppose that around £600 per annum for heating, compares very favourably with UK costs, but it has gone up by 50% in the short time we have been here and it sometimes makes you wonder if they saw is coming and are reaping the benefit
