Our adventures in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus continue....

Bit of a cold week so far, at least by Cyprus standards that is. It's quite strange, visitors come over and walk around in T-shirts whilst those of us who have acclimatised go around complaining that it has gone cold.
Yesterday evening Joan and I met Richard and Paul, just back from their holiday in America. We met at L.D's as they had not been there since they opened up and are pleased to say that their only comment was, "we will be back". It seems that they had a great time t
here in the States and this time included a visit to Vegas, where they bought a singing lucky dawg for Joan.
Last weekend it had been reported that there was a possible case of bird flu here in TRNC. Today we had confirmation of this from a UK contact, Ben Van-Vuuren, as follows:-
Hi There
Thanks Joan. Just to let you know the status of the bird flu. The UK lab on Monday confirmed the deadly strain of the Bird flu virus. Read this in Turkish, Asian and American reports. The area has been quarantined for a 10km diameter. All chickens have been slaughtered in the village. Talat is now calling on the South to co-operate by stopping smugglers from North and South.
Well that was the news update for the day.
We will keep an eye on the press over the next few days.
